In the recent months, every human on the planet (in some way or another) has been directly or indirectly impacted by Covid-19. This virus has created a massive effect worldwide including (but not limited to) health, food access, shelter, and financial stability.
At times many of us have felt helpless, or that this virus is so large and influential, what impact can we make? How can I support frontline/essential workers? What can I do to support countries hit badly by Covid-19? As an organization we asked ourselves that question too. What can WE do as a collective to make an impact (no matter how small)?
The World Health Organization (WHO) has been a leader throughout this pandemic, and many other global health crises’, in supporting and coordinating global health efforts. The WHO is involved in supporting countries in prevention, detection, and response to Covid-19. So, how can YOU support the WHO in their efforts? The WHO has created the ‘Covid-19 Solidarity Response Fund’ to support global efforts and countries suffering from Covid-19. According to the WHO website - “Donations support WHO’s work, including with partners, to track and understand the spread of the virus; to ensure patients get the care they need and frontline workers get essential supplies and information; and to accelerate research and development of a vaccine and treatments for all who need them.”
As an organization, we have chosen to support the World Health Organization Covid-19 Solidarity Response Fund by donating 50% of all proceeds raised from our ‘Biteriko Bracelets” (found here). The remaining 50% will continue to support our active projects supporting Biteriko, Uganda including health access, infrastructure development, and educational support.
